The government has now made it illegal in almost all circumstances for businesses to give plastic straws to customers.
Along with the plastic straw ban, exemptions are still in place to protect disabled people and those with medical conditions to request a plastic straw when visiting a pub or restaurant and purchase them from pharmacies.
With increasing focus on cleaner oceans, protecting the environment and reducing plastic waste, we have removed the lines from sale online.
Paper and biodegradable straws are still available to buy, and both have gained huge traction against their plastic counterparts over the years.
We are keen to promote the ethical and environmentally compliant use of disposable products wherever possible.
For any enquiries on plastic straws, the ban and how we can help supply to your business, please contact us.

It has been announced that schools and colleges are to reopen in September, as Covid-19 infection rates continue to fall.
We have therefore received many queries from school staff who wish to increase safety in school as they open the doors once again.
A disposable lunch
School kitchens will reopen from the start of the autumn term and have been advised by the government to comply with the covid-19 guidance for food businesses.
Here at Inn Supplies, we have seen an increasing demand by schools for disposable food boxes. Used once and recycled, there is no need to handle the box after use and no need to clean.
We are able to supply a variety of boxes suitable for hot and cold food with compostable and biodegradable options also available.
Kitchen cutlery is also being exchanged for disposable cutlery to ensure surfaces are not touched unnecessarily.
Catch it, bin it, kill it
The government has also advised schools to ensure they have a good supply of disposable tissues to implement the ‘catch it, bin it, kill it’ approach in each classroom and have enough to top up regularly.

Returning to work slowly and safely is the next challenge facing businesses across the UK.
The country will see a gradual reopening of businesses from 15 June and business-owners will need to take the best steps to return to work safely.
As with stores that have been open during lockdown, businesses will be encouraged to put up signs reinforcing social distancing rules and local authorities will be doing spot checks. Among other rules, customers will also be encouraged to use hand sanitiser and to avoid touching items while they’re browsing.
Advice from the Government
The government has published Covid-19 guidance to support businesses to reopen and for workers to feel confident and safe to return to work.
Here at Inn Supplies, we are seeing an increasing amount of businesses ordering stock once again ahead of their reopening. We’ve also noticed that disposable items, which can be used once and recycled, are rising in popularity.
Regular visitors will have noticed we’ve launched a record number of new product ranges this year, a quick flip through our blog updates will show how many new items we’ve added to our range lately. We tend to announce the arrival of any new products with a blog update with an overview of the item details and link to the product pages etc, however we’ve decided to add a dedicated “new products” page so you can see the most recently added items on our site. You can find this at: https://innsupplies.com/new-products.
The bulk of new products over the past 12 months have been biodegradable tableware and catering supplies. This is a reaction to massively increased market demand for biodegradable items. We’ve sought to offer a biodegradable alternative to the majority of our range for customers who want to switch to these products.
In addition to the usual site updates we also publish lots of pictures (and indeed special offers) on our Instagram page, make sure you follow us to stay up to date with new items and promotions: https://www.instagram.com/innsupplies/
As with any items from our product catalogue, we’re happy to send samples of anything you’d like to see prior to purchase, simply get in touch with our friendly sales team.

A very popular range we have here at Inn Supplies is our Plastic Champagne Flutes which are available in both the ‘Reusable Bar Supplies’ and ‘Disposable Glasses’ category. They come in 5 different main styles that cater for all kinds of occasions.
Our disposable champagne flutes can either come in a ‘tulip’ or ‘coupe’ style shape. The excellent quality of our flutes are designed to suit any occasion including all types of formal parties and events.
The tall and thin appearance of the ‘Tulip Champagne Flute’ is iconic, instantly bringing sophistication and class to mind. The shape of the glass creates carbonation, causing the bubbles to cluster then quickly disperse upwards giving the champagne more intensity and a look of elegance to complement any soiree or event. Our plastic clear Champagne flutes are injection moulded in virgin food-grade crystal styrene, which gives extra rigidity and perfect clarity. Unlike many other plastic champagne flutes our ‘tulip’ flutes come in a single piece and don’t need to be fitted together. We also stock this product in black, which exhibits a premium glossy appearance.
Before the ‘tulip’ shape became popular, the ‘coupe’ was the glass of choice for drinking Champagne. This ‘saucer’ shaped glass was particularly prominent in the prohibition-era of the 1930’s and then again in the 1960’s. TV shows like “Boardwalk Empire” and “Mad Men” have caused this vintage drinking glass to make a serious comeback, as you will now find them being used to serve cocktails in any trendy bar in London. In comparison to the ‘tulip’ shape, the ‘coupe’ generates less bubbles which gives less fizz to the champagne.
When a stronger better quality flute is needed we also stock reusable champagne glasses. We have two different types of reusable glasses: Elite (Polycarbonate) and Econ (Crystal Polystyrene) items.
Our Elite Polycarbonate plastic flutes look and feel almost exactly the same as their glassware counterpart but are virtually unbreakable. Their extra durability makes them perfect for barware at parties and events because the risk of glass being broken is eradicated. This glass is also available in black, with a lovely glossy finish. Our cheaper Econ reusable champagne glasses are almost identical to the polycarbonate ones, but are not quite as strong.
